Han Nefkens began acquiring and collecting contemporary art in 1999. In his search for things that really matter, he stumbled across the lack of financial possibilities available to European museums and the isolation of non-Western artists through lack of visibility. On the other hand, he discovered the enormous eloquence that art can have, which made it possible to discuss subjects that would otherwise be ignored, hushed up. Subjects such as HIV and AIDS. For building bridges that could connect areas of interest that seem to be far apart, Nefkens has apparently started with the construction of the pillars. In June 2011 there are seven of them: H+F Collectie, ArtAids, Fundació Han Nefkens, H+F Mecenaat, H+F Curatorial Grant, H+F Fashion on the Edge and the pen of Nefkens. This video shows an example of each of these pillars.
