Martin de Ruiter plays 4′ 33″, a composition by John Cage (1952). 4'33" is a tribute to the experience of silence, a reminder of its existence and its importance for all of us. It was performed as the opening of an evening about the expression of sound in film. The program consisted of different audiovisual works by artists as Guy Sherwin, and Martin Visser and Morgan Knibbe. The program was curated and presented by Ben Zijlstra, head of sound design at the Dutch Film Academy.
