Light Displacement

00:02:30 439 De Brakke Grond
Artist Meggy Rustamova talks about themes in her work and her brand new installation Light Deportations, part of her solo exhibition Light Displacement at De Brakke Grond.

Meggy Rustamova (°1985) was born in Georgia and, following a stay in the Netherlands, finally settled in Belgium. While never referring explicitly to her origins, themes such as language, identity and displacement are central to her work. She approaches these subjects sometimes through performances, and at others using photos, videos or sound installations.

About the exhibition

Rustamova came up with the total installation Light Deportations (2017) – a poetic reflection on the impossibility of completely representing reality – specially for this space. The exhibition is on show until November 4th. More information on the exhibition in De Brakke Grond.
