The Groninger Museum immediately catches your eye. But what is the story behind the building?

The radically modernist structures that form the Groninger Museum stands in a canal opposite the Groningen railway station. The building was a project by museum director Frans Haks and head architect Alessandro Mendini. The building consists of three main pavilions: a silver cylindrical building designed by Philippe Starck, a yellow tower by Alessandro Mendini and a pale blue deconstructivist space by Coop Himmelb(l)au. In oktober 2014 the building reached its 20th aniversary.
