Not everyone realises how much work it is to restore art. The only thing the public knows, is that they can no longer see the art in the museum like they’re used to. But it’s not like the restorers are sitting on their hands! They are busy with taking röntgen pictures, using infrared cameras and with research through microscopes. Because they are able to literally look inside of paintings, restorers are often surprised. Watch videos about the discoveries that are made in restoration ateliers here.
