The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has the world’s biggest collection of works by Vincent van Gogh, consisting of 200 paintings, almost 500 drawings and more than 700 letters.
The permanent collection takes the visitor to a journey through the life of Van Gogh and shows the ideas and ambitions behind his art. His search for color, his ambition to become a farmer painter and his imagination of nature, all take a prominent place in the museum. The presence of master pieces, such as The Potato Eaters, The Bedroom, Almond Blossom and Sunflowers, are therefore indispensable. Furthermore, the myths around Vincent’s ear, disease and suicide are comprehensively illuminated.
The museum attracts on a yearly basis more than 2 million visitors from all over the world.
