Moving Pictures is a creative collaborative project of ArtEZ and the Kröller-Müller Museum. In the minor of the same name (2011-2013), students from the department Fine Arts made short films inspired by the works of famous and sometimes less well-known ‘predecessors’.
Each year a group of students, supervised by various subject teachers, actively worked with the museum’s collection. First they chose a favourite work of art and conducted extensive art-historical research to gain a complete picture of the work, the artist, the movement and the zeitgeist. Then they chose their own direction and accents as the starting point for a highly personal short film or animation. The results are just as diverse as the museum’s collection and just as wide-ranging as the students.
