The Ouborg Prize is awarded in alternate years to a Hague artist producing work of both local and national importance.

Marcel van Eeden (The Hague, 1965 ) wins the Ouborg Prize 2013. The City of The Hague’s prize for the visual art, named after the artist Pieter Ouborg Hague (1893-1956) is awarded in alternate years to a Hague artist producing work of both local and (inter-) national importance.

Van Eeden uses existing visual materials, which he finds in old magazines, books or newspapers as a basis for his drawings. In recent years, the artist has produced several series of drawings composing complex narratives (often crime stories) in which fact and fiction constantly intertwine.
