In the One to One project, Elisa van Joolen compares garments of labels such as Patta, By Parra and Ontour. They originate from the same location but go their separate ways, as different brands, once they leave the factory. What are their similarities and what determines the identity of each individual item? Van Joolen has had clothing items from one label printed with clothing items from the other. The residue of her study, the sheets that protect the printing press, are perhaps the most complete source of information.
About Change the system
From within the design world, there is a growing readiness to tackle the big systemic problems of our time: scarcity of raw materials, growing social inequality and increasing migration due to conflicts. For designers, these problems are not a threat but rather an opportunity to create something new. This series features seven interviews with ‘changemakers’; designers who adopt a critical stance and appeal for urgent change.
The exhibition is on display until January 14th at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.
